Outrageous adverts, indulgent food platters and burly looking sportsmen can only mean one thing. That’s right, it’s the return of the Super Bowl. What began as an American spectacle has quickly gained popularity worldwide, making the Super Bowl one of the most talked about sporting events in the world. In a night of eagerly anticipated showmanship, it was the Philadelphia Eagles who shone through against defending champions the New England Patriots.
The Super Bowl isn’t just about the sport, the event is also known for its big budget TV ads and sensation half time shows. This year was no exception with Justin Timberlake and his live band treating the crowd to a musical extravaganza. While fan favourites ‘Rock Your Body’ and ‘Señorita’ gave him the chance to dust off those NSYNC moves, his performance of ‘SexyBack’ really gave the live musicians the chance to shine. The band indulged in the soulful groove of the music, stripping back the hit single to expose the great composition underneath. We were delighted to see Marshall endorsers Elliott Ives and Mike Scott get their moment of glory, bringing the song to its climax with their brilliant guitar skills. Mike plays through two 1987x heads while Elliott likes to get loud with two JMP 100w heads. Both guitarists made their way to the front of the stage for ‘My Love’, giving guitar veteran, Mike, the chance to show off his American flag themed guitar. The crowd were jumping, the guitarists were jumping and it was clear to see how much everyone was getting into the music.

After a full marching band display and some intimate piano moments, the focus shifted back to the band for ‘Mirrors’. Anyone who’s heard the song can appreciate the fantastic guitar line and our Marshall guitarists filled every note with emotion.
On a night all about the stars, Timberlake made time for his fans and closed the show with the ultimate crowd pleaser 'Can't Stop the Feeling'. As brightly coloured dancers filled the stadium and the crowds cheered, one boy was lucky enough to get a selfie with the superstar. A charming finish to a stand out halftime show.
