So, where better for emerging artists to release their music than via Marshall Records? This was the question we asked ourselves when we finally opened our first record label that year. Inspired by Jim Marshall’s passion for music as both manufacturer and performer and the breadth of talented artists we engage with through our products, this long-overdue revelation is our latest venture in supporting the grassroots music scene.

We’re not jumping on a bandwagon. Through Marshall Records, we’re dedicated to pioneering new ways to improve opportunities for the artists we work with by hearing their needs and driving positive change – much as Jim did way back at the very beginning.

“The artist is the most important person in the deal,” said Marshall Records’ Steve Tannett in 2021, laying our mission bare. That year, we cemented a new recording agreement with grime-punk duo Nova Twins that ensured, among other things, that the artists would retain the majority of the revenue after recoupment. Nova Twins responded in kind: “Marshall understands how to work with independent artists like us, they’ve created a unique and fair partnership that puts us, our rights and our music first, giving us the freedom to be ourselves.” Fast forward to 2022, and they’ve just been nominated for the Mercury Prize – the most coveted alternative music award in the UK.

Today, our roster includes Scottish indie-punks Gallus, Northern Irish metal band Therapy?, and London rapper Kid Bookie. We’ve expanded our operations in Milton Keynes with a world-class studio packed out with state-of-the-art Marshall gear providing a space for our artists to record their music (and a live room large enough for a 250-person gig). With the Marshall Live Agency launching in 2021, we're now better prepared than ever to launch great artists into the stratosphere. So, in short – watch this space.
