The 2019 NAMM show featured some big news for Marshall, but look past the launch of the brand-new Studio range and there was lots to discover. Eight lots to be precise.
Available in the auction were eight totally unique handcrafted amplifiers, taking some of our favourite models and reimagining them like nothing you’ve ever seen before:
A piece of Marshall history. The rich red fret cloth is taken from the theatre curtains at the Marshall factory in Bletchley, England.
The bespoke birch ply enclosure is covered in Straight grain EU Oak and Black American Walnut. The luxurious look is finished with a gold ‘plexi’ style logo and gold piping.
Show your stripes.
This 2061X features a one-of-a-kind front panel that has been hand painted silver and printed with special panel artwork designed specifically for this unit. It is covered in a zebra-effect levant and features an asymmetric recessed baffle finished with a black script logo and white fret cloth.
A Mini Jubilee covered in a blue-grey camouflage vinyl.
The asymmetric, protruding baffle design combines both arctic white levant and white fret cloth, finished with inset black piping and a black Marshall script logo.
We assure you, we’ve cut no corners with this AS50D – well, maybe one...
The 50W amp and two 8” speakers are housed in a beautifully asymmetric birch ply enclosure, covered in Black American Walnut. This understated but distinctive combo is finished with fawn fret cloth and a ‘plexi’ logo.
We’ve clashed old with new by giving our digital amp a physical makeover.
The amplifier and 10” speaker are housed in a unique special hexagonal enclosure covered in British Racing Green levant. Finished with gold piping and classic chequerboard fret.
A DSL like no other.
The amp and 12” speaker are housed in a dual-colour enclosure covered in Quilted Sycamore and Gray Tay. The front features different levels for added depth. The baffle, with its large rounded corners, features hi-fi style fret cloth and an ivory script logo.
In a world where all JCM800 2203s look the same… be different.
This 100W head is in a completely custom birch ply enclosure, covered in Birds Eye Maple with Cherry edging. Finished with a salt ’n’ pepper fret cloth and black and gold ‘plexi’ style logo.
The secret to the flawless finish on this combo is the underlying wood being hand-finished to perfection. It has then been spray-painted by an automotive body shop, giving it a metallic blue glow.
Other special features include the arctic white levant band, additional decorative baffles with hi-fi style fret cloth, hand-painted black interior and the white script logo.
