Northerner and Manchester based artist Martha Phillips, better known as TRUNC, continues to establish herself as one of the most distinctive voices in the queer punk scene cultivating a growing community throughout the UK. TRUNC as a project is as genre-fluid as they come. 2023 saw Martha take full creative control over her musical outlet, writing and self-producing from a shipping container studio conversion.

Her rhythmic lyrical melodies speak for a generation that’s over-stimulated but thriving on authenticity, it’s punk-edged hip-hop whilst other songs show vulnerability, shifting through electronic soundscapes looking for a safe place to be a queer neurodivergent woman in the music industry, in relationships and online. TRUNC is showing no signs of slowing down this momentum of smashing out bangers that are also distinctive, thought-provoking pieces of music.
